Pacific rock oyster
The Pacific rock oyster, also known as the Pacific oyster (Magallana gigas), is a non-native species introduced to the UK in the 1960s to boost oyster stocks. It has become widely farmed and is now the most commonly available oyster in the UK, but its rapid reproduction has raised concerns about its impact on local ecosystems.
