Yorkshire Pudding - The World's Food

The World's Food

Yield: 8
Time: 2 hours
Baked pudding made from a batter of eggs, flour, and milk or water. A common British side dish, traditionally served with Sunday roast.

Ingredients

3   large eggs
125   grams all-purpose flour
1/2   teaspoon salt
2/3   cup whole milk
3   tablespoons oil, or as needed

Preparation

Step 1
In a medium sized bowl, beat the eggs

Step 2
Add flour, then salt and mix whisk well

Step 3
Add milk and blend until batter is smooth

Step 4
Cover and rest batter at room temperature 1 hour

Step 5
Preheat oven to 400 F

Step 6
Put 1 teaspoon oil in each cup of a muffin pan and heat the muffin pan in the oven for 15 minutes.  A specially made Yorkshire pudding tin is popularly used in the United Kingdom and is flatter and wider than an American muffin pan.

Step 7
Stir the batter and, while the muffin pan is still in the oven, pour 1/4 cup batter into each cup of the muffin pan with the preheated oil, taking care not to spill the hot oil

Step 8
Close the oven door and bake for 15 minutes or until the Yorkshires are well risen, golden brown and crisp on the outside.

Step 9
Serve with gravy and roast beef or your choice of roast and sides
