Spumoni

Spumoni is a molded gelato made with layers of different colors and flavors, usually containing candied fruits and nuts. It comes from the Italian word spuma, meaning 'foam'. Its origins can be traced back to the late 19th century. The Italian version of spumoni is often lightened with whipped cream. They are usually placed in molds especially made for spumoni, although other molds can be used.
