Cob bread
Ukrainian cob bread, known as "palianytsia," is a traditional hearth-baked bread made primarily from wheat flour with a distinctive semi-circular cut on the top. It's significant not only for its rustic, sometimes slightly burnt crust that gives it its name (from "palyty," meaning "to burn" or "to smoke"), but also as a symbol of Ukrainian identity, especially highlighted during times of conflict for its unique pronunciation.
