Taiyaki - The World's Food

Japanese fish-shaped waffles filled with red bean paste, Nutella or speculoos cookie butter. What a fun snack!

Ingredients
1¼ cups cake flour, sifted1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
3 tablespoons sugar
1 egg
¾ cup milk
½ cup ogura-an (sweetened red bean paste), Nutella, chocolate chips, speculoos cookie butter, etc.
Preparation
Step 1
Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and sugar in a bowl and mix together

Beat egg in a separate container, then add milk and mix
Step 3
Slowly add egg and milk mixture to dry ingredients and mix until smooth
Step 4
Pre-heat both sides of a taiyaki pan using medium-low heat on cooktop
Step 5
Spray both sides of the taiyaki pan with cooking spray
Step 6
Add just enough batter to each mold on one side to fill them up halfway
Step 7
Add 1 Tablespoon filling of your choice
Step 8
Cover the filling with just enough batter to fill the molds
Step 9
Close taiyaki pan and flip over
Step 10
Cook each side about 2 minutes each, or until golden brown
