Yield: 6

Time: 15 minutes

Refreshingly tart Brazilian limeade made with fresh limes, lime zest and condensed milk that's perfect for a hot day

Ingredients

4     limes
1     cup granulated sugar
7     ounces sweetened condensed milk
5     cups water
5     ice cubes per glass, or as needed

Preparation

Step 1
Wash limes thoroughly

Step 2
Zest limes using a vegetable peeler, zester or cheese grater.  Take care to minimize the pith, the bitter white layer under the zest.

Step 3
Cut limes in half and juice

Step 4
Add zest, lime juice, condensed milk, sugar and water to a blender, then blend thoroughly

Step 5
Strain through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl in order to remove any remaining bits of zest
Note: The limeade will become slightly bitter over time if the zest remains in the liquid

Step 6
Serve over ice in drinking glasses
