Tinto de Verano - The World's Food

By The World's Food

Yield: 8

Time: 5 minutes

Tinto de verano is a chilled wine cocktail popular in Spain. It is similar to sangria and is very refreshing.

Ingredients

1     750-mL bottle chilled Spanish Garnacha
2     330-mL cans chilled Lemon Fanta, or similar sparkling lemonade
2-20     ice cubes
1     orange, sliced
1     lemon, sliced

Preparation

For 1 Pitcher:
  • One 750-mL bottle chilled Spanish Garnacha
  • Two 330-mL cans chilled Lemon Fanta*
  • Ice cubes
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1 lemon, sliced

For 1 Glass:
  • 3/4 cup chilled Spanish Garnacha
  • 1/2 cup chilled Lemon Fanta*
  • Ice cubes
  • 1 orange slice
  • 1 lemon slice

* Lemon Fanta is an authentic choice for this cocktail, but it can be difficult to find in the United States. Lorina Artisanal Sparkling Lemonade and Sprite are adequate replacements, though not identical to Lemon Fanta’s flavor profile.  I tasted and do not recommend S. Pellegrino Essenza Lemon & Lemon Zest, La Croix lemon sparkling water or Bubly lemon sorbet sparkling water for this cocktail.

Step 1
Pour the Garnacha into a large pitcher (or glass), then add the soda

Step 2
Gently stir until blended

Step 3
Add the orange, lemon and lime slices

Step 4
Pour into ice-filled glasses (for pitcher method) and enjoy immediately
