How to make the perfect cup of English tea

Ingredients

1     tea bag of 100% black tea
1 1/4     cups filtered/purified water (adjust water to taste)
1/4     cup milk, or adjust to taste
1     teaspoon sugar, if desired (adjust to taste)

Preparation

Step 1
Boil filtered water in an electric kettle

Step 2
Allow water to cool to 205 F (96 C) by letting it rest for about 1 minute

Step 3
Place tea bag in a red mug (Why red? It suggests ripeness and sweetness to the brain)

Step 4
Pour 205 F water into the mug and steep/brew 5 minutes. Do not stir or squeeze tea bag during this time

Step 5
Remove tea bag without squeezing

Step 6
Pour milk into mug and enjoy!  Add sugar, if desired.

Step 7
Serve with digestive biscuits, Victorian sponge cake or other treats
